Dr Tom Hird is a founder and Managing Director of CEG Asia-Pacific and leads the Melbourne office. Tom leads CEG's Asia-Pacific cost of capital practice. Tom has advised a wide number of businesses on cost of capital related issues – both in regulatory and operational contexts. Tom has provided expert reports on the cost of capital across a range of industries, regulatory regimes and countries.
In addition, Tom has also provided expert testimony in a range of competition and regulatory appeal proceedings including in Australia (before the Australian Competition Tribunal, the Federal Court of Australia, the WA Supreme Court and the Victorian Supreme Court). Tom has also provided oral evidence to the UK Competition Commission and in multiple regulatory hearings in proceedings in Australia and New Zealand.
Tom’s clients include private businesses and government agencies. In terms of geographical coverage, Tom's clients have included businesses and government agencies in Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Macau, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Poland, Singapore, and the UK.
Tom has a Ph.D. in Economics from Monash University.
